Challenging events happens to everyone. Loss of a loved one, physical or mental illness, addiction, etc. Unwanted change is an inevitable side effect of being alive.
It’s what we choose do with all that scary stuff, how we choose to think and act, that can make the difference between an accepting, peaceful life or one of needless suffering. I am passionate about helping people learn how to live their best possible life, especially when things get difficult.
I am a life-long learner and love to share what I have learned with others. I earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Guelph in 1988 and a Master of Social Work from York University in 1996. I am currently a registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. I have worked in the field of Mental Health since 1996. I have extensive experience in several different treatment modalities, including Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.
I am also a writer. Blown Red and Dark Territory (Canadian best-seller), published by Simon and Schuster, Canada, follow the adventures of Signy Shepherd, a young woman who helps women in peril escape danger.
